Measure your project area and enter the dimension to get an idea of how much material you will be needing. If you are installing mulch in an area where existing mulch is already there, than spreading the mulch 2"-3" thick is plentiful. Installing brand new mulch on an area? Spreading new mulch 4"-5" thick is typical. Keep in mind this calculator tends to run a little heavy. Need under 5 yards? Your best solution will be to come by our supply yard and purchase mulch by the scoop (we also do have half scoops!), where you can carry materials home yourself on a pick up truck bed or utility trailer. 1 Scoop contains 1.75 yards of mulch. Keep in mind, One cubic yard of mulch covers 100 square feet at three inches deep
How many bags of mulch are in a yard?

Bag sizes vary according to the type of mulch, but the industry standard is two cubic feet. One cubic yard is twenty-seven cubic feet, so there are fourteen standard bags in each cubic yard.
